 Our trip has a very lucky start, Iberia offers us an upgrade to business class!

From the airplane, already close to Quito, you can see the Cotopaxi, 

an active volcano 5.943 metres high.

* Desde el avión ya muy cerca de Quito se divisa el Cotopaxi,

Suitcases...ready!

Finally our suitcases are packed! Tomorrow at 4:00 A.M. we leave from Eindhoven to Brussels Airport, transfer in Madrid and at noon we take our flight to Quito!
* Finalmente las maletas estan listas!  Mañana  4:00 A.M. salimos de Eindhoven al aeropuerto de Bruselas, transbordo en Madrid y al medio día tomamos nuestro vuelo a Quito!

Rehearsal

Very happy after our first formal rehearsal. We have many challenges and enough material to study for the next days, all of this is getting very interesting...

Eindhoven Station

Today in the afterrnoon, Yuka arrived in Eindhoven, like always it's a great pleasure to see her again. Tomorrow we have a general rehearsal.
* Hoy por la tarde llegó Yuka a Eindhoven, como siempre es una alegría grande volverla a ver. Mañana tendremos práctica general.

Maborosi is online!

Today the album Maborosi was released on iTunes at last, collaboration with Willem and Yuka that features a fusion of traditional Japanese and Tibetan songs with a variety of contemporary rhythms and influences of electronic and world music.

Following this blend of musical genres and cultures a new phase of our project begins: the integration of new musicians and Ecuadorian music with our experimentations.

Bansuri on board!

Fantastic news, Taro Terahara just confirmed his participation. He will travel directly from Japan and will arrive in Quito one day after we do. Welcome, mate!

Taro is an exceptional bansuri (Indian transverse flute) player; here you can watch some of his work:

Flying to Brussels

From Japan…. a 13 hours flight…… Yuka is soaring through space to the chocolate capital, mmmm….  soon The Netherlands and then Ecuador!
* Desde Japón ……. 13 horas de vuelo ……. Yuka va surcando el espacio hasta llegar a la capital del chocolate, mmmm…. pronto Holanda y después Ecuador!

Various styles

One of the goals of this Project is to achieve a fusion of musical styles. In these videos Willem practices “I dubbi dell’amore” from his Italian repertoire and “San Antonio Champagne” from his Country & Western repertoire.

* Una de las metas de este proyecto es alcanzar una fusión de estilos musicales. En estos videos Willem practica “I dubbi dell’amore” de su repertorio italiano y “San Antonio Champagne” del repertorio Country & Western.

Yuka has arrived in Brussels from Japan, soon to join us for the project.

Busy today, prepairing our new CD "Maborosi" (by Willem Hendrikse and Yuka Kawabe) for publishing. Andrea is designing the cover while I'm adressing the copyright issues. We're also sweating over the track list to get the songs in the right order.

Thanks to Hermann Seib's VST Host I found a way to make Steinberg Halion work as a standalone sampler for the much needed electronic parts ans sound fx to play our music live.

Headquarters

The Cultural Center of the Catholic University of Quito will be the place for gathering, practice and auditions for our project. It's coordinator has confirmed the collaboration of the institution. Thanks, Gaby!

"Chiba City Dub"

First production together with Yuka Kawabe, from which stems the idea of fusion that we want to achieve during this project. "Chiba City Dub" is a mix of rock and reggae music with English and Japanese lyrics. The Japanese lyrics are excerpts of a traditional song called Kokiriko Bushi. English lyrics and music were written by Willem Hendrikse.

* Primera producción junto a Yuka Kawabe, con esta origina la idea de fusión en estilos que deseamos alcanzar en este proyecto.  "Chiba City Dub" es una mezcla de rock y reggae cantado en inglés y japonés. El texto japonés viene de una canción tradicional llamada Kokiriko Bushi y la letra en inglés como la música son composiciones de Willem Hendrikse.
